i dont think that it is anachronistic - it just shows the difference
between classic high qual broadcast & broadcasts utilizing the web ..
just think about the broadcast that we (we in this case stands for a
firstfloor/radio fro coprod) did for kunstradios recycling the
future episode at dX .. it was an experiment of a two hours livecast with
a radio play, where half of the actors of that play were in kassel and
the other half was in linz ... the audio communication was done with real
audio ... there were also many other parts of that broadcast, but it
would be too much verbal noise if i described it here (for those who wanna
know more: http://www.servus.at/versorger/43/Verstaerker/kasselpic.html)
in my opinion, the important thing that happend during this show was, that
there were many different aspects of the show broadcasted - different
mixes for the terrestrial broadcasts in kassel & linz, several realaudio
streams - and none of the mixes / streams could have been said to be the
"central" or the "final" mix ...

it is live though you have a delay - an isdn codec also
has a delay of 700ms ... every communication has a delay ... just think
about the speed of sound .. the difference is that the delay of realaudio
is that big that even slow people are able to regocnize it . .. .
