What i said was pc's are GENERALLY cheaper and "for the price" FASTER
than Macs.
You quote one recent mac and yes macs are finally picking up to speed at
a reasonable price .....but only just.
I'm a mac lover as well. I spend twelve hours a day on one and am glad
to work so easily cross platforms. But to be realistic. Mac is sold
through the pc chain (or at least totally eventually to be). Where's the
market? and why ........
What's the advantage in bickering anyway, I work on macs, ataris,
pentiums, amigas, anything that will do the job really. And I agree macs
are brilliant when it comes to straight out audio. Pity the AudioMedia
III card isn't built in though and there aren't a few balanced outputs
in there. And there are problems with OS 8.1 on the mac. This is from
Ken Mistove on another list, "The only negative I've seen in 8.1 as far
as sound goes, is lack of support for third party Sound Manager drivers.
If you use Digi's Sound Drivers (the only one I tested), you won't be
able to in 8.1. The "Monitors and Sound" control panel has been
revamped. The trick of using the old "Sound" control panel won't work
anymore. If anyone knows differently, please share."
But i'm not quibbling, macs are great for sound. I run Pro Tools, Logic,
SoundHack, Focul Point, Peak, Max, I-Cube, Cubase, SoundDesigner II,
SoundEdit 16 version 2, Vivo, Shockwave, RealAudio, ReBirth, SoundMorph,
SoundMaker and whatever else I can get my hands on and have a ball
.....whose complaining??????
