INTRODUCTION 
XCHANGE net.audio NETWORK net-casting project at the Ars Electronica Festival 1998 
T h e   A c o u s t i c  S p a c e 
In the framework of the 1998 theme: 
INFOWAR - information.macht.krieg 
There will be created live audio environment during the entire Ars Electronica festival, using real-time 
net audio technologies (real audio), including an open broadcasting studio in the 'real' space, as well as the creation of a virtual sound environment in cyberspace, involving both on-site and remote participants. 

LOCATION 
Open radio studio placed at Open-X Space, Brucknerhaus Linz,  4th-10th September in Linz.

CONTENT 
One main LIVE stream and different parallel streams - will be on-line 56h during the Ars Electronica festival. 
56h LIVE net.radio broadcast will start in September 8 at 10:00 CET and will end-up in September 10 at 18:00. 
Different teams will co-ordinate it: 

IW* - InfoWar (editorial) team, co-ordinators Geert Lovink, Josephine Bosma; 
XN* - Xchange Network, co-ordinators Rasa Smite&Raitis Smits+E-LAB, Rachel Baker (PPPnews service), Honor Harger+Radioqualia (FrequencyClock/TimeZone), XLR team, and others 
OX* - Open-X - possibility to broadcast for any of other Open-X groups and cross-participation (HEART, Nettime, etc.).
CONTEXT 
  • On-line => on-air (in co-operation with Kunstradio and Radio FRO)
  • On-line  => on-air /mini FM/ in Linz ('Frequency Clock' project by Radioqualia)
  • On-line => FM in different places of the world (Banff, Ljubljana, Riga, Berlin, ...)
  • Live parallel-streams => by Open-X participants and remote broadcasters (time-zone)
  • Open Channel => net.audio experiments
  • physical-virtual space connection (project by Borut Savski on acoustic space in physical environmnet)
