re all,

Yesterday at about 15:20 GMT Rachel Corrie has been killed by a
bulldozer driven by an israelian army soldier in Rafah, Gaza strip.

She was 23 years old: an activist of the International Solidarity
Movement, american citizen from Olympia in Washington State and
graduating student at the Evergreen College.

On March 1st Rachel helped compile a report on women's non-violent
resistance to the Israeli Occupation:

In the US Rachel worked with Olympia Movement for Peace and Justice

Greg Schnabel, 28, from Chicago, said the protesters were inside the
house of Dr. Samir Masri. "Rachel was alone in front of the house as we
were trying to get them to stop," he said. "She waved for bulldozer to
stop and waved. She fell down and the bulldozer kept going. We yelled
'stop, stop,' and the bulldoze r didn't stop at all. It had completely
run over her and then it reversed and ran back over her."

Joseph Smith, 21, of Kansas City, Missouri, who was at the site, said
the israeli soldier driving the bulldozer could clearly see Corrie as
she sat in front of the machine. "She had sat in its path, some 200
meters in front of it (the bul ldozer)," he told The Jerusalem Post.
"After running her over," Smith said, "the bulldozer backed away to a
distance of about half a kilometer away."

"Corey was killed in the al-Salam neighbourhood when an Israeli
bulldozer covered her with sand as she stood in front of a bulldozer,"
said Dr Ali Musa, a doctor from the al-Najar hospital in the southern
Gaza Strip. He said she died from skull and chest fractures.

So far i found no trace of this episode in any american newswire: it
looks like it has been completely obscured while CNN gave a short
mention of the fact yesterday.

The International Solidarity Movement is a Palestinian-led movement of
Palestinian and International activists working to raise awareness of
the struggle for Palestinian freedom and an end to Israeli occupation.
They utilize nonviolent, direct-action methods of resistance to confront
and challenge illegal Israeli occupation forces and policies.

Please note that Rachel is the first member of the ISM to be killed in
the conflict, what makes this episode a significative signal about the
directions Sharon and US govenment are taking at present time.
