Varka has embarked on its mission to spread the latvian accent on th D
and B scene, first stop the Inaugural International Drum And Bass Convention
which took place in an old monastary (YEH YEH NOW WE ARE THE PRieSTS FOR THE
NEW RELIGION), in Normandy, France. Together with artists from 14 european
countries, Varka presented underground media/bass/dj activies from Latvia. The
Convention had several problems due to fuel strikes in
France, but our minibus, filled with Estonian and Latvian junglists
(varka/salamander crews), succesfully crossed all the borders in 2 days and 2
nights! And although more people would have been good, all those who made it
enjoyed a wild strong dance party, the sun shone in the garden an the moon
glittered on the dance floors until the sun came back again.
Wide international contacts were established and the first steps in
building an international bass network has now been put into action. We\'re
looking forward to the next Convention which must be wider and have bigger
resonance in Europe. While we were at the convention we received a wonderful
invitation from Doctor liver (of the furious four, flame crew affiliate) to see
and taste london living, we have now set up headquarters near another church
(you best warn the christians we are on our way!!) in the home of the Curious
Count Tin who is curiously counting as well as showing us the ropes in the big
basin.
Thanks to activists and organisers of this happening -Flame Kru
(http://www.flamekru.co.uk) and EG.

Now Varka is dividing its activity beetween Riga Town and London Town .
Dr_UPS and H.S.H. King Kone are now in the UK, looking for the Roots Of BASS
phenomena. For two consecutive Saturday nights, 16th and 23th of September,
we\'ve played the 12-1.30am flame kru slot at Pirate Interet Radio InterFACE,
along with the CCT and Dr liver who is one half of the furious four (This is
all one person - a poet, artist, photographer, herbalist and exquisite chef who
kidnapped us and brought us here to london and won\'t let us go until we have
accomplished more than we think we can). Now we know what\'s happening behind
that small RealAudio live picture! Real bunker, filled with cyberfreaks, djs,
mcs, wicked conversations - rulez!
This was in stark contrast to the computers/studios/guarded fully fat equipted
BBC Brodcasting House we visited on 22th of September, mass media - sucks!
Kone and _Ups are also linking with poets the furious four and are presently
working on a few tracks at home which will soon be recorded
for your pleasure so WaTcH ThIs SpAcE...

Wile half of us is discovering the UK, Ginnza and M.R.Ten are
maintaining the bass underground in Latvia - they played at the Pantalony Club,
and in <Jungle Pop> party at the Metro Club, Riga.
The official opening of Pantalony will be in November so look out for details
from Cassablanca entertainments.
We have spread Accoustic Space #2 issue to the right (interested in new
media) people, and received positive feedback from them about both the contents
of the magazine and our Varka mix cd. Thanx to Rasa & Raitis Shmite for
supplying us enough copies.

So thats all for now, next pure musical release is coming soon,
especially for varka info list ( subscribe it from
http://www.andrews.lv/varka.shtml )

thanx for attention,
