A wide spectrum of works that use the specific possibilities of the net
have emerged. Net Affects is aiming to give a survey of all those
different kinds of works in the context of first of all the alternative
Dutch artfair 'Kunstvlaai'. Yet no less important is the online side of
the exhibit at pavu.com, which will remain there after the offline part
shuts down. Because of the Dutch exhibit setting I first made a
selection of people from the Netherlands that make autonomous work for
the net. Secondly, I selected a number of international net art sites;
they give a broad impression of what is going on and also show the
specific position of Dutch net art. Summarizing, one could say Net
Affects is an effort to give a survey of the developments of autonomous
work worldwide, with a specific interest in the situation in the
Netherlands.
