Subject: GiE review...
Here is a review of a9ff by Scott Mallone, who writes at the the ezine
GiE.
I thought you might like to read it...
"a9ff" is like a symphony of electronic weaponry, completely
unsynchronized, completely uncoordinated, and completely
entrancing. Tracks 1 through 98 play as one song, and flip from
one to the next every few seconds.
Segments of rhythm and chaos flow back and forth as the
intensity of the music does the same. Electronic screeches,
static, bleeps, loops, and other things that experimental music
fans just eat up are present throughout all 74 minutes of the
assault. Samples of everything from german spoken word to
profane sexual references are occasionally thrown in with the
mix. Track 76 contains a string of samples which were
cut-and-pasted together: "Fuck freely orgasmotherapy
bio-electric charge and discharge a genital embrace fuck freely
communist movement." Isn't that just fun to say? Imagine the
pleasure you receive when blasting that on your stereo to your
neighbors who always play their Wu-Tang CD too loud.
If experimental/noise is your thing, check this out for sure.
