Friday 29th May, 1998 at 19.30 in the Brandon Room at the
INSTITUTE OF CONTEMPORARY ART, THE MALL, LONDON
"Broadcasting the net"
Luci Eyers and Steve Rushton of Everything Editorial will present
excerpts from eBC1 the artist run web TV station,
http://www.newmediacentre.com/icaweb/ebc/
and as a change to the advertised programme, this will be followed by a
presentation of Backspace Radio, the artist run web radio station
http://www.backspace.org/radio/
Questions to be addressed during this session include the use of the
unidirectional broadcast model in what is essentially a multidirectional
and interactive medium. Who is the audience for this work? who
provides the content? How does this context then differ from artists
film/video screenings or the terrestrial radio and TV station?
The session will be chaired by Susan Collins (Slade Centre for
Electronic Media) and David Sinden (programme coordinator,
Channel/Artec)
CACHED is a series of artists' presentations and talks looking at
current work for the Internet. It asks how artists are dealing with
conceptual and practical issues of Internet work as they meet them.
CACHED is organised by CHANNEL and the Slade Centre For Electronic
Media, Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, in
collaboration with the ICA's Education Department.
