this idea is not new, just needs to get realized, josephine bosma may
report what was done at de waag and why things did not proceed. basically
it would be good to compile a list of links where to get the best info on
this topic. there is a lot on mini fm. some also heard the rumour about a
realaudio-radio-receiver or minidisc player. definetly you don't need much
of a computer to download tracks over night, and put it into a small
jukebox-radio for later use. on the other hand there is nothing cheaper
per Megabyte then sending cdroms by snail mail. in the end i don't believe
that many providers will do anything in the beginning. it is more about
end users forming a critical mass.. micz flor prepares something with
small local community media in manchester, and did a project with mini fm
in kassel (did work but looked great). so before reading another big mouth
announcemt i'd be interesting in getting some facts together, what other
people did already and how far they came, or even, some ideas which do not
just sound like an ironic gesture of 1920ies avantgardism.
