PC's are generally faster and cheaper and they have multimedia packages
that macs usually don't offer. It depends a lot on the software you want
to run. Digidesign still don't make ProTools for the PC. You have to go
Session 8. ProTools Powermix for the PowerMac is really cheap with an
AudioMedia III card. A friend of mine is setting up Logic Audio (which
is great on PC and Mac) with a whole lot of other video/graphics
software on two PC's, but he has a lot of money to spend. The other
thing to consider is the release of the G3 for the Mac. According to
macworld online, the 6100/7100 and 8100 will be supported with two
MAXpowerG3 cards, 210MHz ($500) and 240MHz ($700). They were surprised
to see that these older macs outperformed a 9600/350 in a test
with a 10Mbyte Photoshop file. Surprise existed because the older macs
have either a 30MHz or 40Mhz bus. The cards should be available in
February.

What software are you using for this? If you're thinking of using Opcode
Max I don't think you can get that for PC's yet but I might be wrong
....check it.
